About Us

We are a caring family practice with a competent, dedicated staff of veterinarians, animal technicians and office personnel.  We offer complete medical, surgical, diagnostic and dental services, emergency care, and boarding.  Our facility includes operating rooms, an intensive care unit, diagnostic in-house laboratories, computerized ECG, a radiology center, pharmacy, large indoor and outdoor runs and cages, conference room, and administrative offices.  We are a community based hospital.  This photograph was taken on the day of the 2008 West Boylston bicentennial parade in which the Veterinary Hospital, the West Boylston Open Space Committee, and the AVMF were part of the parade with the theme "Preserving Open Space for the Ages with Veterinary Medicine and Agriculture".

The Hospital

The original outpatient area is a historic home.  In 1984 a New England style addition was added to make it a modern 15,000 square foot facility.  The outpatient and inpatient hospital is primarily on the first floor.  The second floor includes administrative offices, laboratory, business offices, and a conference room.

Affiliations

The animal hospital has affiliations with initiatives through the American Veterinary Medical Frontiers, Inc. (AVMF) and its two divisions:

The Malden Brook Farm Heritage Center and "A Bio-surveillance Center (ABC) at Malden Brook."  The hospital is closely integrated with the international program of an Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA) and the herd of biosurveillance horses on Malden Brook Farm.  For more information about our non-profit affiliate and its programs please visit the website at www.vetfrontiers.org.  The hospital is an important participant in the mission of AVMF which is: Veterinary frontiers for revolutionizing one medicine, internationally, through research, education, and agriculture.  The hospital has now established a laboratory primarily focused on Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA) but also with the ability to diagnose current and emerging diseases in small animal pets within the clinical practice.  It is a USDA approved diagnostic lab to include ELISA and immunodiffusion tests for EIA in addition to immunoblot testing, all for antibody presence.  In addition the lab includes PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) testing for antigen or the causative agents for current and possible emerging diseases in our community.  Students from Colleges and Universities have been and still are trained in these and other areas.

The AVMF affiliation includes further developing radiological diagnostic imaging and treatments, in existing and planned facilities of the hospital.
